Miss M – 6 days old

I can’t tell you how excited I was when my friend D told me she was having a baby.  I don’t think I ever really asked, I more or less just said, “You will be letting me photograph your little girl!”  I had the pleasure of photographing little Miss M. this past week.  Mom was a little worried that she wouldn’t sleep much, but between a semi-full belly and my little heater, she zonked right out.  I LOVE this little turtle outfit that Mom bought on Etsy (*sigh* – I love me some Etsy).   And even though she promised I could use it whenever I wanted…and I will :) … I’m probably going to try and make my own.  I’ll keep you posted on how THAT goes!  It may be a while…

But I’m getting a little off track. Back to Miss M.  After I moved in – yes, it does look like it when I show up – we set up in the nursery and started playing.  We tried a few different things and managed to get some of both Mom and Dad as well before M had enough.  Enjoy and feel free to leave some love below for the happy family!

Baby E

I’m a little behind in blogging about this sweet baby girl.  E was session two on the day from a few weeks ago where I was doubled up due to the snow.  She was such a little angel.  So sleepy and snuggly the whole time.  Mom and I had a blast playing around with outfits while E got her beauty rest.  Thank you W family for such a wonderful experience!

Here are a few of my favorites from the day!

The W family

And how fabulous is this nursery?  The artist (I know her too!) did a fantastic job on both the butterflies and E’s name on the wall

and quite possibly my favorite on the afternoon..

Thanks again W fam for a fantastic time!  I look forward to seeing you guys again!

I Heart Faces – Beautiful B&W

The photo challenge this month on i Heart Faces is Beautiful B&W.  When I first read this, I immediately thought back to a session from over week ago with sweet baby N.  I caught this image of her mom and her and it’s one of my favorites! I hope you like it and make sure you head over to I Heart Faces and check out the other entries!

Baby N

Sweet little baby N was such a pleasure to shoot.  She was so funny and squirmy and absolutely refused to go to sleep!  We scheduled the shoot at a time where she is usually O.U.T. completely but not that day :)   And she was so strong too!  She is a perfect example of why when you are shooting newborns, you simply must have a hand on the baby at all times.  She would get seemingly good and asleep in my arms but the second I shifted, she would wake back up.  We tried the mommy route as well and no go.  So instead, we simply went with her flow and what she wanted.  We got some wide awake shots, took some of big brother while she was getting fed again, and then on round two, she was a little more zonked out and we were able to get a few shots of her with her eyes closed.  Enjoy the sneak peek!

Sweet little hat Mom had

Little owl – my own little personal etsy type project :) It’s admittedly fun to say, “yeah, I made that.”

She definitely didn’t want to let go of her binky!

I LOVE this one of mom and baby!

Cover Photos

We are offering Facebook Cover Photos!  Now that everyone is switching over to Timeline, what could be a better way of displaying a few of your favorite pictures from a session with us as your cover photo.  Different designs and layouts are available with up to 6 photos total.

And since it’s hard for me to write a post without including a picture, here’s a Facebook Cover Photo I did for a 2011 Senior who is now playing Soccer in College:

I Heart Faces – Furry Faces

This weeks challenge at i Heart Faces is “Furry Faces.”  My entry is my lil lab mix Chloe that I’ve had since college.  She’s so smart and has such a funny personality.  If she’s ready to go outside, she’ll bark at me from the door, but if I don’t move fast enough, she’ll make this long drawn out “rooow rooooow rooooooooh” noise.  Her way of saying “hurry up, I have to go!”

I Heart Faces – Autumn Splendor

Photo Challenges & Photography Tutorials

This week’s challenge at i Heart Faces is Autumn Splendor.   I immediately thought of the photos I took of little Bradley  playing in the leaves.   This one I gravitated towards because of the look on his face.  It’s almost like he can’t decide if he’s going to take a running jump through the leaves or just ease his way in.   His football for the moment is completely forgotten as he tries to make up his mind on what to do with the leaves.

Make sure you head over to iHeart Faces  and check out the other entries!

Bradley

I had the honor of shooting some pics of little Bradley this past weekend.  He is so adorable I can’t stand it!  Running non-stop, he was fun just to try and keep up with.   If you could have just seen him closing his eyes when the sun hit his face.  Not that it slowed him down any, he just kept on running with his eyes closed!  A big thanks to Leslie and Matt for giving me the chance to take Bradley’s photos!  Enjoy!

Giveaway!

It’s about that time of year again.  As Thanksgiving and the holiday season approaches, I’m in the mood to do a little Thanksgiving style give away.  If you are on my newsletter list, you already knew to keep an eye out for this giveaway.  If you didn’t receive a newsletter, but wish to, please sign up by clicking on the Newsletter link above.  All newsletters are sent out quarterly so you won’t have to worry about your inbox filling up.  Now on to the giveaway.

The Grand Prize includes a Free Session with Michelle Kirby Photography, a 16×20 print of a photo of your choice from the session, and two mini brag books to share or keep for yourself.  The total prize package is valued at over $350.00.  While this is a little different from what was mailed out in the newsletter, I didn’t think anyone would mind if I went BIGGER on the prize!  However, if you want to trade the two brag books and 16×20 for the 11×14 print, we can certainly do that.

Shoots for a Cure

Michelle Kirby Photography is SO excited to announce a partnership with Shoots for a Cure (formerly known as Think Pink Photography). Think Pink Photography was founded in October 2007 to support individuals and their families who have been touched by breast cancer. We are a charitable organization that serves two main purposes – celebrating life and supporting the cause. Recently, we changed our name and our support. We now want to support ALL cancer patients, not just breast cancer.

Through our professional photographer network, we are helping cancer patients to celebrate life with charitable photography sessions. Individuals may choose to document their fight against the disease before or during treatment, or prefer to capture their victory by scheduling a session within 12 months after treatment is completed. Photographers world-wide are now available to donate time and talent to celebrate life and support the cause. There is no cost or obligation to the cancer patient. Clients participating in a Shoots for a Cure session will receive a complimentary photo session, as well as a set of 10 small prints from the session. They will also receive a discount on any additional portraits they wish to purchase, although there is absolutely no purchase required at any time.

To support the cause, we donate and fundraise for The American Cancer Society, Susan G Komen Foundation and have partnered with The Eric R. Beverly Family Foundation. All funds generated through donations and various fundraising efforts are paid directly to The American Cancer Society, Susan G Komen Foundation or The Eric R. Beverly Family Foundation in our name. As a 3-time breast cancer survivor, Danielle Beverly and her husband Eric joined together to form a foundation dedicated to promoting education, increasing awareness, and providing support and resources for families who have been touched by breast cancer.

Please subscribe to our blog (on the Shoots for a Cure website) and tell your friends and family about Shoots for a Cure. Awareness is everything and we can’t be successful without you. I encourage you to view our website, make a donation, or hire a photographer that supports Shoots for a Cure! If you hire me, mention Shoots for a Cure and I will make a personal donation to the organization. If you, or someone you know, would like to schedule a Shoots for a Cure session, please contact me for details.

I am very proud to be a network photographer with Shoots for a Cure, and am anxious to get the word out about this amazing program. For more information, you can contact me, or you can visit the Shoots for a Cure website at http://shootsforacure.com

Thanks for your support and help in spreading the word!

Best Wishes and God Bless!
